Major Characters

• Katie/Erin – She is the main character and the protagonist in the story. Her real name is Erin, but suddenly turned out to be Katie because she runs away from her abusive husband named Kevin, and make her way to the quaint little town of Southport, North Carolina. With her new identity, she rents a little cottage for the time being and works at Ivan’s to make money. There is a store where she usually go to buy foods and stuff for her new home and soon she meets a man named Alex with two kids who she fell madly in love with. She also meets a woman named Jo, who lives next door to her cottage, they become so chatty and soon she becomes her truest best friend. A dynamic character because at first she is too weak to fight back with his husband but as time goes by she soon realize that she needs to be strong and protect her dignity.
• Alex Wheatley – The owner of the town grocery store with two kids and he is a single father because his wife Carly died. He meets Katie and began to have an interest on her. he fall in love with her because he sees how she interacts and behaves with his children. A static character because he is already a good father to her children since they came into his life, and he really truly cares for Katie just like how much he cares for her deceased wife, Carly.
• Kevin Tierney – The antagonist in the story. Katie’s alcoholic husband who is a police detective with the Boston Police Department, and he didn’t call her wife as Katie, but Erin. He abused always abused Erin even in little things like whenever she make small mistakes. But he loves her very much, he cannot live without her and no one else should have her if he doesn’t. He loves making love to her whenever he sees his wife very gorgeous and sexy, and Erin have nothing to do with it but just let him have his way. A static character because from the start until the end, he still manage to abused Erin and he uses his detective skills and resources to track her down and try to set a building on fire that she is in. He is also in an intense brawl with Alex until Katie intervenes ending the problem forever.

Minor Characters

• Jo/Carly – Jo is the woman who lives next door to Katie’s cottage. She always went to Katie’s house to have some cup of coffee, wine and chitchat about their life and the people surrounded by them. In the latter part, Katie receives a letter from Alex’s deceased wife and there it is written that Carly mostly called by her friends, Jo. She then realizes that the Jo she knew all along was just a spirit or figment of imagination that is in Katie’s life to help her find Alex.
• Kristen – Alex and Carly’s daughter who builds a bond with Katie early, she shows her coloring pictures and plays dolls with her. She also likes to go to Katie whenever she wants to be comforted.
• Josh – Alex and Carly’s son who enjoys playing outdoors and also develops a connection with Katie.
• Ivan – The owner of the restaurant where Katie works, at the time she arrives at South Port NC.
• Ricky – The chef at Ivan’s restaurant, and he tries to hit on her but she rejects him.
• Joyce – An old woman who helps Alex manage his grocery store.
• Roger – A man who works at the grill in Alex’s grocery store.
• Coffey – A cop who works fro Kevin.
• Ramirez – A cop who works for Kevin/
• Bill – Kevin’s boss
• Todd – Kevin’s partner at work
• Melody – a waitress at the restaurant where Katie works
• Amber – A girl that Kevin meets at a bar and later on Kevin realizes that he is cheating on his wife because something happened between him and Amber while he’s drunk.
• Larry Feldman – Kevin’s neighbor
• Gladys Feldman – Kevin’s neighbor
• Katie Feldman – Larry and Glady’s deceased daughter who resembles Erin. They are in same age and everything, even the mother used to show Erin the scrapbook she’d put together about Katie.
• Karen Feldman – Katie’s older sister and the one who talks to Kevin about Katie, and soon realizes that Erin must have used the name of Katie to hide her identity. That’s when the time he soon find out where Erin is hiding all the time.
• Rachel – Erin’s hairstylist and somewhat talkative.
